
What is the Difference Between Lab-created and Mined Diamonds?
Since both lab-crated and mined diamonds share the same physical, chemical and optical properties, the only difference between the two is their source. Lab created diamonds are produced using one of two methods. Chemical vapour disposition, (CVD) and high heat, high temperature HPHT).
To create a diamond using the CVD process, a diamond seed, composed of pure carbon is exposed to a gas mixture, resulting in the gradual accumulation of carbon atoms and the formation of an excellent crystal structure.
The HPHT method reproduces the natural conditions found deep within the Earth’s crust, where diamonds are naturally formed. This enables the creation of lab-created diamonds with exceptional clarity and brilliance.
Both the CVD and HPHT processes create a diamond crystal that can be cut, polished and faceted the same way that mined diamonds are. The finished product is identical to mined diamonds and can only be differentiated from mine diamonds using expensive, specialized equipment.

Measure 10 on the MOHS scale of hardness.
Grown in their own way with unique inclusions and patterns.
Are graded in accordance with the GIA’s 4C’s - Clarity, Cut, Colour and Carat.
Come with certification and an inscription on the girdle to identify the diamond - the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) has been grading lab diamonds since 2007.
